After four years of filthy fun, late nights and toughly administered deadlines we’ve decided to have a break from the relentless pursuit of emerging talent, unsurpassed creativity and gorgeous boys. We wouldn’t have been able to attract such a large global audience without the passion and energy of our amazing contributors, photographers, writers, musicians, artists, and of course our boys. Sincere thanks to all of you!

We’ll be leaving the site here as an archive, so feel free to go deep and explore, and recollect the first time your eyes first saw one of our many beautiful boys of the week.

While we can’t say when or if we’ll be back, we’ll definitely be around and about. You know where to find us!

Love and peace,
Richard and Weston and the EVB team

Hi guys, I’,m so very sorry that you have decided to take, what I hope, is just a brief break. This is a wonderful site – irreverent, challenging, informative, sexy – and a boon for those of us who love New York (but cannot afford to live there!). For the last few weeks I have been trying to get on to your site and just getting the same image and thought my computer was just being stupid (my computer is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but whisper it softly as he is a little sensitive). Please come back soon. We miss you.
    All the best,
P.S. Who is this avedon eejit?

I feel sad to see you guys end such an incredible adventure. It was one of my dreams to be a part of the EVB collective, and it happened, so I will forever be honored to be in the archive, with so many other talented artists. Thank you, and good luck.:)

For the last five years I was doing study abroad in the middle east, a time which opened my eyes to the world but also a time during which I would get homesick to the pit of my stomach.  I started study abroad young, naive, unsure of myself, and very closeted, and then, with the utter freedom of being thousands of miles from home, I got to find myself through others and in the reflections of oneself one sometimes only discerns in other people.  I can’t remember how I came across East Village Boys for the first time (EVB was purely an online experience for me, as I had never been to New York), but it was apparently early in its infancy, at about the same time I started coming out to myself and connecting with other people, whether it was closeted muslim guys I met on Arabic-language sites who could never live openly in a conservative and homophobic society, or whether it was friends from school I’d go out with to all the gay clubs in the bubble that is Tel Aviv.  But through it all there was always EVB to remind me that there was a place back home where you could be queer and thrive, to reassure me that there were still oases of sanity and normality in a very fucked-up world, and to make me step back every so often and marvel at the sheer beauty in our everyday life which catches your eye in a particular burst of color in a work of art, a perfect pose, a brilliantly composed and masterfully executed passage in a particular song, a certain face, or a flash of insight in an inspired interview.  I learned so much about the world, about people, and about myself in the last five years, and I want to say thank you, Richard Welch, Weston Bingham, and the rest of the EVB collective, for showing us so much of the beauty in the world around us.  (P. S.  And btw thanks for the cumshot tee!)
