This week's East Village Boy of the Week is Michael, from New York

I shot this hotel room series in a simple room at the Hotel Chelsea early in the morning, armed with a hangover and no breakfast. Somehow I tend to become more inspired this way. I think Michael was eager to explore his sexuality in front of the camera, with mixed undertones of shyness and exhibitionism. These images translate almost as voyeuristic snapshots in a seedy motel, as Michael's attention is focused on mundane tasks like brushing his teeth or changing his clothes. It appealed to me to have the opportunity to be in his space and make a mini photo diary of this daily routine. I think there's something sexy in that. Like when you have a hot sleepover and you wake up to admire your mate sleeping or walking to the bathroom. But maybe that's just me. I'm intrigued and maybe aroused by the beauty and simplicity in everyday things. Too much. -Paul Gunn
